Mukteshwar is a popular hill station situated at an altitude of 7500 feet above sea level, in the Kumaon Himalayas. It is 62km from the nearest railway station Kathgodam at the foothills of the majestic Shivalik range of the Himalayas and 70km from another Railway station Haldwani the gate way of the kumaon region of Uttrakhand. The famous hill station Nainital is 52 km and Delhi is 356 km .

This hill station is popular for being the world famous seat for IVRI, other famous attractions are the Mukteshwar Temple which is a renowned temple of lord SHIVA, Chothi Ki Jali a cliff top, the picturesque Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Jata mandir( another Lord Shiva's temple,)and some famous apple orchards surrounding the area.
